Need to get the GT3 Alloys refurbed on my Boxster. They are split rims and the lacquer has started to lift. I wondered if anyone had any recommendations or suggestions for me. I live in North London. Cheers

Unless you want to save a bit of money. It should be noted he doesn't do the refurb himself. He is just a courier service.

Yes, but the beauty of his service is that he leaves your car useable (loan wheels) whilst your wheels are being refurbed. If it's an everyday car then it's a no brainer to use Chris.

I know Lepsons are probably a bit far for you but to give you an idea they charged £72 for my wheel where the lacquer was peeling and the job was top notch.

Doesn't Chris use Lepsons anyway? They powder coated my GT3 wheels and they are still perfect thee years later.

Yes he does. I have used him. Service is great in terms of convenience. If you want to save some money you can probably go to Lepsons direct - but of course this means getting the wheels to them and having use of a different car whilst yours sits without the wheels.

Thanks guys. I have got a quote back from Chris, not cheap, but I am assuming from all your responses that the quality of work is top notch. That is the most important thing.

Yes, top quality work by Lepsons. Incidently, Chris instructs them not to paint the hub face of the wheel and not in the hole where the centre caps fit, so they fit properly and no geometry issues are created when re-mounting the wheels. This wouldn't happen according to Chris if you took your wheels into Lepsons yourself, unless you specifically requested it.

So he tells them how to do their job!? I think not.

How much if any does he put ontop as I used Lepsons direct and paid £72 for one wheel. Lepsons will even collect from a business.

I think that the service is worthwhile if your car is a daily driver, because you are kept on the road. Mine is a weekend car so slightly different.

I use BJV engineering. They did all 4 wheels for £165+ vat.

Quick turnaround and located in Herts.

I have just had the split rim alloys on my BMW refurbed by My Alloys at Basingtoke. I know it's not north London but I found that my local trusted bodyshop sub-contracted to them anyway and, to their credit, they suggested I take advice from the experts as the corrosion on the rims was bad. The wheels are 12 years old and the small split rim bolts had never been removed. It turns out they are titanium and £8 each. They only replaced 4 bolts. I use the mobile refurb people for my kids hatchbacks but glad I went to what is effectively a purpose built factory for my BMW.
