APOLOGIES FOR INCORRECT SPELLING IN TITLE...

Hi all,

Don't tell the TVR lot I am posting in here....

My girlfriend would like a more fun car than her Cooper S and wants to spend no more than 5k. It will be our second/third car car so not in daily use.

I am initially thinking late 944 or early boxster.

Obviously these cars are getting to the expensive part of their life but are they complete money pits?? Have not got a budget on maintenance but don't want to be tearing up £50 notes.

Search on here is not working so apologies for what is no doubt a commonly covered subject....

For a very general answer indeed, I think the answer is going to be yes. I recently went through the Boxster buying process and started with a 5k budget. Now I'm sure you'll find good ones out there that have been properly maintained, but you'll be very lucky or have to kiss a *lot* of frogs.

Like most pork, they seem to generate bills very easily. Buying a cheapo one will almost certainly generate more and bigger ones!

YMMV
Bert
PS I spent 8.5k on a very well looked after one and a hood cable snapped the next day...£350 later biggrin

Do the usual checks when buying a second hand car.If ok then buy and enjoy.

As the car will be covering minimal mileage then the bills should be lower as long as the car is half decent to begin with.

If you do get one buy a trickle charger for it as the alarm can drain the battery within days.
