Viewed a 997 turbo which is overdue the four year service by some seven months. Will this cause future issues with warranty work etc?

Also, there's no warranty on it. Is it correct that I need to wait 90 days before buying one?

Thanks

no, but it will probably need a major service before they re-warranty it

Will need a major service to bring it up to warrantable standards. and you only need to wait 90 days if buying from a trader, if it is a private sale, assuming it meets Porsche requirents, you will be able to put one straight on.

I could be wrong but the way I understood it was that if the car does not have a warranty on it all, so you can transfer it on a private sale then you still have to wait 90 days whether you bought it private or not?
When I extended the warranty on mine the opc asked for a copy of my log book to prove I had owned the car for 90 days.
You'll need a 111 point inspection as well as your service.

that's not correct, you need to wait 90 days regardless of where its purchased from

Yes but of course if buying privately you would give the seller the £1k extra on top of the agreed purchase price (or whatever price it is these days) after he has gone to OPC and put the warranty on for you before sale. When sold to you it would then already have the warranty.

yes assuming you can get the seller to agree to that, whats to say the buyer wont back out? or even worst OPC say it needs £3k remedial work!

Oh, I was certain about that clause, but on checking the documents it seems I was wrong.

90 days wait for anyone purchasing privately.

More importantly, why has he let it go 7 months past the date and what else has he not bothered with?

How many miles is it since the last service and what records of work does he have?

So, Your warranty claim can be rejected if you have a Tom Tom plugged into the power scoket, or have grills fitted over your front Air ducts.

But its OK if your Service scedule is 7 months out of date.nono

I would check with Porsche if I were you, and if they say its ok get it in writing.

On the other hand if people on here say its ok then it must be true. hehe

I dont think any one has said its OK?
The issue is if the potential purchaser will get warranty at all, certainly not for at least 90 days anyway.
There is so many cars out there why bother with ones like this unless the price is very suitably adjusted?

I bought a 997 turbo privately and got the owner to put the warranty on it as it did not have one. As Porsche do an 111 point check and check the rev ranges you get the best of both worlds.

I am pretty sure if the service is that overdue Porsche will not put a warranty on it.

Also, there are plenty out there. I would just buy one that has been serviced properly!!
