..That's going to be good and then some.., the std 991'S' ring time was almost the same as the 7.2 GT3.., have they gone for normal hydraulic steering for the GT3 or electro...?

Quoted back in May -

"Regardless of which transmission is offered, Achleitner confirmed the next-generation GT2 and GT3 will have an electromechanical steering system. It has received some flack for not offering a lot of feedback, but Achleitner said "All our race drivers prefer it."

I don't think it's the real deal. I might be talking bks, but it doesn't look big enough to create the downforce of the previous GT3's.

I think that very car overtook me on the autobahn shortly before we arrived at the Porsche Museum a couple of weeks ago. It had a little white number 8 on the window. My son grabbed a couple of camera phone pics. Looked and sounded good and was F fast.

Was sat outside the pub in Helmsley the other night & a 991 carrera S took off from the car park, sounded great! They've really got the "911" sound to these new cars, in fact it probably sounded more air cooled than my old air cooled cars!

Cheers matey :-)
I was slightly nervous about a Pistonheads' collective assassination of my distinctly non GT3 style walnut dash and grandad spec beige leather in the BM! Mind you, with the need to satisfy every potential niche, they may well be on the 991 options list any day soon!

nono Nothing wrong with a bit of timber in a BM smile Went for piano black in mine, rather than the naff ali chequer plate they normally manacle to the dash of a Sport BM.

Like the look of that, but what's the "bang" with each upshift? Mechanical noise from the transmission?

It's the exhaust. Ferrari's double clutch transmission cars do the same.

Cheers

Really? Didn't notice it in mine, maybe it's more noticeable in the Cab? My one did make a loud mechanical noise on the upshift once, but that was something completely different...

I had a 991 S a a loan car for a few days and the 'whoompfh' was deffo there on full bore upshifts! Mental. I can't begin to imagine how quick the 991 GT3 might be, 991 C2S is rather rapid in itself!
