Help getting temporary GT3 exhaust in Milton Keynes area

Some of you may know I've imported my 996 GT3 from overseas where it was an ex-race car and hence modified.

It's just had its IVA to get it registered for UK roads and failed on CO2 emissions and noise despite a new exhaust and 200 cell cats. More than a tad annoying given the cost of the exhaust.

Can anyone advise a cost efficient way of getting the car through this test? Perhaps someone close to Milton Keynes might have a standard exhaust sitting spare which I can borrow for a day?

Will you not need to borrow it every year for its MOT?

They don't measure exhaust noise on MOT's afaik

I've a few exhausts you can borrow if you want to make things worse
Bummer you aren't over 10 years old.
Is that you back and got everything here now?
Can you fit a temporary noise solution to get you through (super traps) or will they demand something that atleast appears permanent?
Making sure everything is super warmed up might get you through emissions.

IVA is not an MOT

Sorry for being an idiot here, but is emissions testing not part of the mot? (never had one so not sure)

If it is failing for the iva, why would it pass an mot?

Also a very kind offer, many thanks! I have a feeling that if it looks temporary they may not pass it. Yeah, the 10 year rule is a bummer.

I'm back, and collecting the integrale tomorrow from the workshop. That was pretty straightforward, but the Porsche not so. Have to refit the original glass as the plastic rear quarter and rear windscreen don't have EU markings. One or two other fiddly things, but it's the exhaust which is most distressing, particularly as I had requested the supplier in Dubai to make sure it was emissions friendly. Oh well.

Because it's easier to find a sympathetic MOT centre than a sympathetic VOSA SVA test station.

Sounds like a load of hassle Harris. why dont you ship it back to Dubai and I will look after it for you? Got a Porsche spaced hole in the garage where there used to be a Cayman S... I promise not to prang it at the Autodrome and to let you drive it to TNF when you come and visit us again

I'm afraid I have not had a great experience - it's probably better discussed in a PM, so once you have that facility, do send me a mail. In the meantime, there is one guy I highly recommend who can help you in Dubai: Paul Denby who now runs A2B Motors in Al Quoz. He used to ship Cup cars between Europe and Dubai and has the best contacts.

At the UK end, I strongly recommend you handle matters yourself rather than leaving it to an agent. Like I say, PM me when you are able and I can advise further.
