Picked this up today. It is identical spec to the one I picked up six months ago, apart from it has Burmester and power folding mirrors. But despite being essentially the same car it drives completely differently from the previous one; much smoother and quieter.

Now I've just got to get through the first 2k km of running in....

So what did happen to your first car?!?!
Long story. I posted a bit about it a couple of months ago if you can be bothered to search for it.The Burmester is quite impressive on the new one. Very "controlled" is how I would describe it. Quality music recordings sound excellent - far nicer than Bose but on the setting I have it on at the moment radio presenters sound a bit hollow when they are speaking. There is, however, an audio menu entitled "Burmester" where you can choose different sound characteristics for different sorts of listening. Think I need to have a play.

Whats the stereo like? I'm into my hi-end audio and burmeister do some nice products but I have always thought that high-end car systems lack the quality of their usual home offerings? Is it worth the extra money?
I am not a hi-fi geek but I'd say it's pretty impressive. I found myself this evening going for another drive just to listen to the stereo. Is it worth the money? Moreso than Bose I'd say.Blue62 said:
Must be strange to be back in a 991, is it really so different or is your head playing tricks? Incidentally, have you got spacers on that car?
No it really is different. The old one had a certain harshness about it, it felt taut all the time and it was noisy. It felt like the tyres were overinflated and sounded like the tyres were worn. Neither of which was the case. The new one is much smoother, quieter and has that magic carpet ride feel about it that impressed me when I firstdrove the 991.Yes it has spacers.
