996 C4S tiptronic gearbox problem

Recently purchased(privately) 2002 3.6 C4S with 53k miles. Twice this week, the gearbox has locked in 2nd or 3rd gear whilst accelarating and cannot do anything about it unless i stop for short while and normality resumes. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks

You need to get it to an indie really.

I am sure you are fearing the worse and guessing that this is likely to be an issue which may need a gearbox rebuild. Get it to a a merc gearbox specialist.
