Our 968 Club Sport
Discussion
Just thought I'd post a little about our 968 Club Sport.
I bought the car with a good friend last summer as a dedicated but road legal track car. Although we both own Porsches, and 911's, we considered ourselves a little 'novice' to be taking them on track, and thought it wise to invest in something for track use only.
We bought the best car we could, with a load of track prepared bits on it. The car has excellent provenance, being the first ever 968 Club Sport in the UK.
The car came with KW3 suspension, the 'big brake' conversion, Promax Chip, Janspeed Exhaust. M030 Suspension and a half cage amongst other things. It has the original bucket seats and is a 'true' CS, without any of the luxury options.
We've since spent quite considerably on all sorts of things (we fast found out that owning a track car is not a cheap hobby!), from a top end engine rebuild to virtually a complete respray. All the work has been completed by RPM Technik and Ollie and Darren have been excellent.
In addition, I spent a day with Chris Franklin at Center Gravity who totally transformed the handling of the car. I really don't understand the mixed reviews he receives, and don't wish to start a thread about him here. Just to say that he spent 12 hours with me and did not leave a stone unturned. And I didn't leave spending a penny more than the amount pre agreed.
Had I been honest with myself before we bought the car, I should have known that the same level of OCD would be applied to a track car as my road cars, so we have also spent on bringing the interior up to scratch. Oh well !
Here are some photos from a day spent at Brands Hatch last Tuesday on the GP circuit. She's on her red track wheels (Cup 2's) with 888's (she wears white Cup 1's on the road).
Hope to see you all out some time !
Stuart

It would be good to meet up, maybe at a track day. I only just put the 18 inch wheels on. Jason had sold them a couple of years ago and then he emailed me a couple of months ago to say they were up for sale again, so they are now back on the car they were originally painted for. I also have a set of 17inch Cup 1's and 17inch Cup 2's.
I know from Jason's files that you can spend a lot of money on these cars to make them perfect. They just look so good!

You can actually see those wheels in one of the rebuild photos - on the floor beneath the car....mohitos said:
Well these are the days I have in the diary for the rest of the year. Any takers ??
27th October - Bedford - Easytrack
4th November - Silverstone GP - Goldtrack

27th October is the Birkett 6 hour at Silverstone, but 4th November on Silverstone GP looks promising.27th October - Bedford - Easytrack

Mohitos, the car looks great. I bumped in to you at RPM soon after you had bought the car and had worked out the scale of the project you had on your hands. I had a ratty old 944T at the time, and have a ratty old 964 now
Ollie will be casting his magic wand over it in the next few weeks.
