Actually, ceramics won't make any difference to the lap time. They are no quicker than steels. Maybe a very small advantage (a tenth or so) if the car was fitted with slicks.Over 2 seconds is a huge difference if there was tyre parity. It will be interesting to establish what tyres were fitted to the 991 although porsche tend to fit the stickiest tyres to press cars for obvious reasons. PDK would be worth a few tenths but over all there would still be a 2 second gap which is a very long time on a circuit. On the road, it really doesn't matter.
With a driver of average ability, the difference will be less I suspect as the 991's performance at the higher end of the envelope will be more accessible than the GT3's. Some drivers will love that and some won't. I think that this aspect (in reality more than the electric steering issue) is what will divide opinion on the 991.
I think that on balance, more will love it than hate it.
