no reason why...in fact 18" faelift have 285/30 rears which are larger than standard firment on earlier 996...
I think it is down to tyre fitment conti's are a little quieter than pirelli in my experience
In my '99 996 I noticed that whilst it was being washed (and I was sat inside-lord that I am
when the jet wash was directed towards the door it could barely be heard BUT when it was directed to the rear wheel arches and wings (the bit where the speakers are on the back quarters)- then there was a very loud drumming noise. Could it be that if this area were to be soundproofed with somehing like dynamat then the problem could be solved?
