I need new rear tyres on my 996 turbo. It has Pirelli N3's on the front and back. I have read they don't make Pirelli N3's for the 996 turbo any more. Is it recommended mixing makes of tyres from front to back? I was looking at putting new Michelin's on the rear and keeping the N3's on the front. If so what Michelins should I go for?

I prefer not to mix tyres, but if you're happy to - MPS2's work very well.

I was in the same boat but had pzero rosso N'4s on the front that I could not get matching rears for. Looked for almost 5 months. Went for Michelin PS2's and very happy with them.

So I have PZero's on the from and PS2's on the rear.

Not good to mix, particularly if you intend to track the car or do high speed stuff on the road. On the track for me it seems to upset the balance of the car. I don't know personally, but other threads have recommended replacing the pirelli zero rossos as a matter of course anyway ....

Mixing tyres is not a good idea as already stated, but is also not an option if you have an opc warranty.

Why would you buy a 100k car (when it was new) and then put different tyres front and back? I dont get it. you are taking away the one thing that puts you in touch with the road. If there's 2 things you shouldnt skimp on its tyres and brakes.

Swap all 4 and Ebay the 2 good tyres, loads of tyre dealers mop up decent tyres. I've sold a few as collection only and got decent money, the guys who won sent a courier, very simply and offset cost of new tyres nicely.
