Hi there!

I'm looking to install the Dension Gateway 500S, but I have some questions. My Porsche is a 997 2005, I think I have a PCM 2.1 DVD, because I have the DVD navigation.

1. I have the Porsche phone/sim module, do I need to install another mic?

2. Do I need to upgrade the software/firmware before hand? I've uploaded software versions shots below..

3. When I press the 'CD' button twice the HUD says 'no CD changer' so do I need to get the CD changer enabled by Porsche?

Any help would be very welcome!

You will definitely need to install another mic, as far as I am aware. I couldn't find any way of using the Porsche one.

CD changer option will need to be enabled, but I am not sure about the software version required.

thanks for the advice.

I can't seem to find any guides out there on how to fit the microphone, will I need to start stripping out the interior? Have you done it?

I installed the original Dension Gateway 500 a couple of years ago. It was pretty straightforward and should be the same for you, if not easier to be honest. I assume the new product has bluetooth integrated whereas I needed to buy an add-on unit, the BT1500. A microphone is supplied in the box, that in my case connected to the bluetooth unit with a standard jack plug and comes with a very generous cable length that'll allow you to pass it through to wherever you need to use it.

It doesn't matter that you don't have a CD changer because the Dension as you know behaves as a pseudo changer. You may need the PCM re-coding but some don't so fit the unit and judge what you can do.

If you need any info, please come back.

I have got a Boxster, so may be a bit different. I installed the unit itself in the front boot, next to the Nav/CD changer. I ran the mic cable through the main grommet behind the battery, and up around the door seal, so the mic itself sits by the sun visor.

I did it like this as the cable is totally invisible and the whole thing is totally reversible in case I ever wanted an OPC warranty.
