Hi all,

Soon to be an owner of a 2011 Cayman in Meteor grey. Coming back to Porsche after around a 5 years absence. This will be driven by her indoors for the week days and a bit of fun for me at the weekends..

I know it has not got the biggest engine of the range, however I am promised it will be a great drivers car.

Thanks all for the advice over the last few weeks

Some not very good pictures...

Good luck with the new car, it might not be the most powerful but for road use there is plenty to enjoy.
The engine is bulletproof according to general opinion and there are no nasty rumours afaik about reliability, durability etc.

The handling is sublime and on track they really come alive. You will be surprised how well it goes around corners, embarrasing some very expensive machinery with more compromised specifications wink

I borrowed a 2.9 demo from OPC Chester to have a play with the PASM as there were no 3.4s around with it when I was looking earlier this year. A lovely, nippy car which you can really throw around and wring out the performance.

Enjoy. There's no better feeling than getting your new car.

Yes, I think they were looking a little low for their used numbers this month wink

Hatfield - The deal nearly fell apart, as they would not give me 6 months road tax on it. I was standing firm, as it became a principle, we shook hands agreed no deal. 2 hours later a call comes in from the saleman, maybe a deal could be done..

The original deal was they dropped the price on the Cayman by £1k and effectively paid for the wife's part ex negative equity, which would be max £800 worse case. How could 6 months tax circ £175 be a deal breaker on the margins?

I like to think I squeezed a good deal, however have no idea how much 2 years warranty, prep, 111 point check etc.. goes into the cars cost.. I also foolishly thought the dealerships owned by Porsche, charged a slight premium...

Ask for a day at the Silverstone Experience Centre to be thrown in too if it's not too late.

Congrats - nice car, but whatever you do, don't have it serviced there!

Car looks great.

As for the engine - my other half has a 2.9 Boxster and the 2.9 engine is an absolute peach! It's the DFI-style lump, but it has in-port fuel injection, not DFI, so you get the best of all worlds. Despite giving away about 140BHP to my 997S.2, her car never feels slow or in desperate need of more oomph - it's just a beautifully-balanced package and a truly great drive. I can only imagine your Cayman will be the same but more so.

Both. And my local mate 'in the know' claims they're poor workmen too - Cambridge are the best, or East London. I would never, ever, have work done at Hatfield.

I had a 2.7 and what a car. Never once did I feel that was underpowered, but I might have felt different if I bought it to use on track. I'm very jealous. Enjoy it!!!

Bit strange, the Porsche website no longer has it for sale..
