hi

i am after some fuch alloys for an 1988 turbo body supersport, they are not easy to come by so i was thinking of some reproduction alloys, there is a company advertising some at about £800 a set does anybody have any experience of reproduction alloys? good or bad? yes or no?

thanks

mike

They generally look OK but if you park next to some real ones you'll notice the difference. Fuchs are forged with an anodised rim finish, replicas will be cast with either a polished or diamond-cut rim finish - moisture can get under the lacquer and make them start to go milky over time, but they can be refurbished for well under £100 each (if the painted bit doesn't need re-doing too). Replicas are a lot heavier than genuine ones too. Values of genuine Fuchs wheels are going up all the time so if you can find a decent set at a sensible market price then it might be the better option. If they need refurbishing it's £1000/set if re-anodising, under half that if polishing.

I have a set of fakoFuchs for daily driving , genuine ones have my 888's on them for trackdays..
Bought from Matt at Type911 , prob only the Fuchs police would notice any difference.
Pic is gen 8 on the car with me holding a repro 9

Interesting PDenya, they look really good.

I heard lots about poor finish and wheels not being very strong as well as heavy. In the end I found a really good set of 7's and 9's for a widebody but I paid well for them!

How heavy are they?

.. Never weighed them ,not as light as a gen wheel but considerably lighter than the Minilites I tried...
All in all pleased with them , centres will be painted the same colour as the stripes at some point..
Think it was about £750 for 7's and 9's
