I've just posted the following on the Readers Cars forum but figure it can't hurt to ask the questions again here.

"Looking at buying an Audi RS2 as`a daily driver - I know some folks here have or have had them. Any info welcome.
Most around are high mileage (100K+) what are the major problems?
How bad is the insurance (full no claims, getting old)?

Alternative is to spend another 10K & buy a newer boxster - but thats another 10K for fresh air and what else?"

Hmmm, they're not that similar. I have driven an RS2 and a Boxster S and the RS2 felt more agricultural, less sophisticated (as would be expected of its age), but it is far more practical and still fun to drive. The Boxster handles more sublimely tho', despite the excellent grip of the RS2. Boxster S would be my choice - not driven the lowlier ones but I wouldn't want my Boxster any slower, put it that way. Maintenance on an RS2 is likely to be heftier as well, considering the age, performance and rarity of them these days.

Have you considered an Audi S4? That is more modern feeling than the RS2, a good kind of half way house between them.
