Hi guys,
Back on pistonheads with different car yet again, had loads of jap stuff, yank muscle now onto 996 ...
Had limited budget as wife used up most on her car (like they do!!) but i now have a carrera 4 in arnena red..its done 125k miles but very good all round , the previous owner of 5 years has well looked after it & nice guy (his wife on log book & main driver!) Cant believe how nice it drives for the age 1999 & miles on it!!!!!
Got insurance, its t & t all original with 18" original wheels, think it is bit poverty spec as dont really understand what i got to be honest (very impulsive !!!!!) its got upgraded 6 cd porsche sounds, climate control, rear wipe (but no washer?)part electric seats, i think its hard backed seats, (well the back is plastic? is this up or downgrade?) traction control. 6 speed, elec wind mirrors (are the mirrors heated?) thats it !!!
How do you post pics & will put them on?
as usual few questions.....
is the 4 more expensive than 2 (people seem to like 2 better , but i would have thought 4 better??)
The really good thing i wanted was pse exhaust, the owner has just had a brand new porsche one fitted for £960 & after looking on site i found Haywood & scott do conversion, so booked in there to have it done as love the sound with pse....
i have a few minor things to have done......
1/ stonechips on front need to be done.
2/ the ali label on top of gearstick is shabby/worn (at 125k miles!), where the hell do you get insert? or do you have to buy new gear lever?
3/ The hanbrake lever has been pulled a few times (at 125k miles!) & needs something done , lever/cover renewed or something, works fine but shabby again ?
4/ the wheels are split rims & need re furb, have local firm so this no prob..
5/ where the roof rack would go there are 4 little painted covers, 1 of these seems to have dropped down a bit leaving annoying little hole in roof?
basically what a lovely little 2 + 2 car, squeeze the kids in for short runs, but lovely to go out for a blast! Wil try this for a while & if i like it might upgrade to newer model/ less miles ! But got to give porsche credit, the car seems to be holding up well & looks lovely even at this age, cant stop grinning at it on my drive.......
any advice on where to get this interior stuff would be helpfull lads, read the sticky for normal parts etc but not sure for interior, inside is savannah i think (a sort of mustard colour)....
still grinning......

I like red, but others say it will kill you if buy one with its depreciation, like money is the only thing that matters.
there wont be much more deprecation on a 99 car with 125k on clock i doubt,I must admit i like the arena red with tan inside, i think that tan or cream (but that gets bit dirty which is shame!)is good match. i always have silver cars, Also i dont like black leather, its so hot in summer & makes small cabins seem claustrophobic.why dont people like the 4 wheel bit? i would have thought either better or the same?
any idea where to get interior stuff on this web site? porsche will be expensive i think?
cheers
