After owning 8 off 911's and 1 previous 987 , I can honestly say this is my favourite Porsche I have owned, it is a very high spec and I appreciate some would rather go for a 911, but its still cost me some £40k ess than a 991 and I my opinion it's a much more attractive car.

Really enjoying it, I strongly recommend always ticking the sports exhaust it really sounds fantastic.

Looks lovely and the leather compliments the silver very well.

I really think Porsche have got the new Boxster absolutely spot on and it's really matured well.

Initial driving experience are as follows, I be dammed if I can tell the car has electric assisted steering, in fact I find the steering quite firm. The first thing that hits you is how ride compliant the ride is, in non sport setting the car is certainly almost saloon ride comfort. The level of wind noise and exterior sound is almost solid roof quiet. Tyre noise from my 20" tyres is very subdued , something I was a bit worried about going from the standard 19". PDK is another league on the mk1 version, seems to have much better low speed ability. Performance can't be judged yet but certainly feels all there! The build quality has really ramped up, Porsche were never weak but now its moved serial notches up the scale and a very nice modern ambience very 2012 almost merc BMW like "sorry" only way to describe it. If you like your cars to sound good tick the sports exhaust option, it sounds truly amazing very deep and sporty, round town the sound makes passersby look all the time, something you don't get in previous 911's or 986/987's. handling seems as always Boxster perfect.

Negatives so far are few, crappy position of the electric hand break , cheap feel wind deflector which must cost £5 to make yet Porsche charge as an expensive option which should be standard on a convertible. Passenger seat belt hits side trim common compliant , should not have to pay for the 3rd year warranty, and that's it so far.

Alround I adore the looks, the sound, build quality and general feel, seems to have grown up, going from a GT3RS of course it's not as powerful buts it feels very useable and sporty , going from a test drive in a 991 its really feels the same (sorry 991 owners) , but just where is there a £40k price difference? Performance is within 0.5 sec 0-60, top speed within 10 mph, mpg I got 34 amazing road tax £250 the lowest of any sports car, I hope the car remains reliable and I would expect resale to be on par at about 55% after 3 years.

There could be another one trading down from the RS to a Boxster!!!

Lovely looking car, even though I am not a fan of red leather interiors - looks good with the silver.

I don't look at it as a trading down, just as a sideways move and good value for money mate.

Nicest 981 I've seen. Stunning. That and the new Cayenne Turbo would be my perfect garage.

They are a great car now, not a fan off full on red inside, but that's just a personal choice
What was the RRP of your spec then if it were top end.

Seems common with this model to spec high, as people see it as a cheap car if a past 911 owner.
But speced up they are a expensive car imo for 320Bhp. Gt silver and choice spec is 67k

It's a great shame it has less power and is slower than the outing model and about the only thing which stops me looking at one new over owning my Spyder which I love.

It's got more power than the 987 and is 40kg lighter , with PDK and chrono its 4.7sec , yes all Porsche prices are up but then same with Ferrari , Aston and Mass, sign of the times I guess.

Phooey,

I know, but I am getting old and we would rationalise the 911 and a BMW Cab into a single car.

Oh, so rational!

If you read my post , you will see I own a Spyder, which is lighter and faster :-) so hard for me to move to a slower car at 66k

66k is a lot of money for a car which people will still say " can you not afford a 911" I am not a 911 fan myself but even after owning a Cayman and Boxsster Spyder people still call it poor mans Porsche which is a great shame when none of these people could spend 66k in the 1st place.:-) not that I ever care what people say anyway.
The Spyder is such a great looking car which has perfect balance that the new car does not offer anything for me to move onto. ( bar a nice roof) lol

I really like the new Boxster but cannot myself put 65k into one when I would only get sub 35k for my Spyder so 30k to change.
