The brake warning light came on on the way home this lunchtime and I've now found the problem. The hydraulic booster pump (front of the luggage compartment, above the battery) is leaking like a stuck porker from between the motor and the pump body.

Sodding thing looks brand new and will no doubt cost a pretty penny - anyone else experienced failures with this component or am I just an unlucky bastard?

Just did a quick search on Rennlist here

It seems it is pretty common unfortunately.

Thanks - at least reassuring to know that I'm not cursed! Was looking forward to a good blat this weekend, but will have to wait 'til next week when I can buy a new pump and stick it on.

Have taken off the old one and can see that it's only the shaft seal that's knacked, but the whole pump has to be replaced because the entire assembly has a single part number in the PET. Damned consumer society!

Edited to add for info. that a new hydraulic booster pump costs 1512 euros, that's £1k to you guvnor, luvverly jubbly, wot a lot of wonga....
