The check strap is a bit of a pig of a job. I believe that the usual method is to cut out around the aperture so that you can access the repair and then weld another peice on. Circa £400.My wiper sits slightly above the screen on the curve to. It doesnt bother me and I cant remember whether you can 'fix' this or not!

If you buy the wiper blades from a Porsche dealer you will find they have some extra linkages and wrap around the curvature of the screen a lot better. They are more expensive than the aftermarket Bosch ones.
The door check strap is a know issue. It's not cheap to fix it properly. You either have to remove the wing or I have heard of someone gaining access by cutting a hole in the inner wing from inside the car.

I'm pretty sure you do not need to remove the wing. That would be a Massive job. Ive been told to do it correctly is a repair panel cut in and painted which is around 400 - 500 per side.
There is a bodge that will last where they weld the door strap for about 200 quid but you have to be careful with it.
My wipers came from a Porsche Indy and they don't follow the screen either on the drivers side.

You can get a check strap repair done without cutting up the a pillar where you weld the bracket top and bottom then grind it smooth and paint it, but I'd only let someone experienced like Clark and Carter do this as it can look bodged. As mentioned above it will also never be as strong as a full repair.

So that saves maybe £200? Why would you even contemplate doing a half-a***d job that's not going to be as strong or original looking. You'll always end up seeing it and wishing you'd not saved the price of 3 tankfulls of fuel.stewart rix said:
