Hi Guys, after years of lurking is time to pipe up and say hi!

My name is Daman, from Colchester in Essex. I have been a member of car forums for many years now but never PH. Its always been on the "to do" list as PH is so vast but after getting my 996 Turbo back in February, I have found myself going from a fairly large active community (MKIV Supra lot) to a fairly quiet Porsche community and its a little boring if I'm honest!

So anyway, enough about me, here's the motor;

Spec;

2003 Porsche 996 Turbo Manual
Bassalt black
Full black leather interior with optional red stitching
PCM2
Aluminium pack

Tubi Exhaust
Remap to 1.1bar
K&N Panel Filter

Hopefully I will be around a while, kinda seems its the forum you always stay on even if you change cars. byebye

Hi Daman, welcome along. smile

Lovely car with some good mods. Good forum this. A few nit-pickers but the funny banter more than makes up for them.

Also have a look on 911uk.com
The forums move a bit slower than on P'heads but there are usually runs out in most areas.

I'm up in Northumberland but my girlfriends sister lives in Colchester. Some lovely places around there.

Hi Daman,

Nice spec, colour combo and welcome to PH.

Have you had the mods done or were they already on the car when you purchased?

What are your thoughts on the Tubi exhaust, as I have a friend who's in the market for one but as always, you never know what they're like to live with and how they sound until you've handed over some hard earned and had it fitted.

Nice car!

Simple answer to forum activity - have lots to say .... Plenty of amusing and knowledgeable peeps on here, just put a post on about something contentious to do with 993's and watch the aircooled beardies scuttle out of the woodwork! smile

I recently moved from a 996 C4S with PSE to a 996 Turbo with a Tubi exhaust. Ealy days but I think the Tubi is excellent. I was worried about noise on startup as I used to turn my PSE off first thing. However, even starting in a garage I don't find it too embarrassing and the neighbours haven't commented on it so far. Of course I am in the car not standing behind it.

Most 993 owners are adopting the full beard look now in fear of been recognised

How does the noise of the Tubi exhaust on the turbo compare with the PSE on the C4S? I have always fancied a 996TT but every time I look at one I'm underwhelmed by the noise (or lack thereof!). As the sound is such an emotive part of the experience I've always walked away

I currently have a 996 C4S with PSE and love it.

Mine is a 996t with a sports exhaust. At idle/low revs/general driving it sounds absolutely brilliant, and can hold its own against any C4S,

however

at higher revs/on full chat it just cannot compete with a C4S (which is one of the greatest engine sounds ever), basically because all that 'sound' energy is being converted to 'going faster' energy.

Welcome aboard fella and nice choice of motor. There are a few pretty knowledgable folks on here who are glad to help, I know I've had some good advice over the years. The art is sorting the wheat from the chaff. blabla

Welcome along Daman.

Great choice in car. There's a nice little following gathering pace for good 996tt's these days, cracking cars, as I'm sure your aware.
thumbup

This is a pretty good forum, as Evoslayer says. There's a lot of good knowledgable people out there when it comes to the 996tt and credit where it's due, Evoslayer is one of the best.

You'll learn pretty quick the people to take note of and the ones to skim past smile

Also noteworthy are those heavily rose-tinted spectacles.

Welcome to PH Daman!
I'm also based in Essex (Chelmsford area) and running 996 turbo same year, same colour combo, (apart from the red stitching - nice!)
Some very knowledgeable people on here. I've learned so much about Porche since I joined 6 years ago smile
