I would appreciate any advice on the best way and products to use to treat a five year old roof. The colour is fine just want to make sure it remains waterproof. thanks
Keep the top clean, removing ASAP bird mess and any other stuff that gets on the top. Avoid parking under trees that rain sap.The canvas is there to protect the underlying rubber sheet which is the water proof layer and the canvas is nicer to look at.
If you use something on the canvas this can harm the underying rubber and degrade it.
It can also work to trap moisture between the canvas and the rubber which can also work to degrade the rubber and the canvas.
Also, the effecs of anything you apply are shortlived.
Keep it clean and you're doing your part.
Sincerely,
Rockster.
I spoke to a well regarded detailer & he said people use various products but what makes the difference in the finish is if the top is completely clean & dry before application, so they dry the hood with a gentle heat gun thoroughly after deep cleaning to get the sealant to bond to it properly

Doesn't help the with the usual hairdresser comments.....
Anyways, i generally give the hood a good clean and seal it using Scotchguard. If i could prevent water droplets/spray from penetrating the fabric then that would keep me happy. Quite impressive when you see the water bead up and roll away.
