I need to replace the front brake discs and pads on my 996 and was pleasantly suprised at how cheap they are, but am concerned that they might be too cheap......

When it comes to brakes (and tyres) i do think its worth paying for quality.

What make of disc and pad would be OE for a '98 Carerra 4 and what experience have others had of fitting Pagid, Textar, Kinetix, Mintex, Ferodo, Veco or EBC

Which would you recommend and which would you avoid?

I've got Pagids in my CS and find them fine. Have heard mixed reviews about EBC though.

Edited to read CS - wishful thinking on my part.

Not sure if Carbotech do pads for all 996 models but personally I'd go for Carbotech pads and Nitrac discs on any car as they are the best combo I've come across thus far, not cheap but bloody good.

I put Pagids (purshased from Europarts) on my old 996 and they were great!

Same on Cayman, 130 quid for front discs and pads all-in, hour or two to fit myself and very straightforward.

No issues at all.
