Could someone direct me to a pic of the bit that has to be snipped, please?

And then could they direct me to someone around the midlands that would be happy doing it for me?

The smallest pair of snippers I possess are hedge shears.

Thanks.

You can do it yourself. The hardest bit is actually getting the relay cover off.

The diode to snip is the one shown, not the blue one on the left of the box. Dont worry if its a different colour which mine was. As you can see the metal part of the diode, if u get a sharp knife you can actually "saw" through it and bend it back, it can then be re-connected later if you want.

I'm probably going to regret asking, but what are you achieving by snipping?

Thanks.

I've just been out to the car to have a look - where are the relays?

I removed the cover from the drivers side footwell, but theres only fuses in there.

My guess is it's leaving it switched on full time

It does away with the 'mute' at 30 - 40 mph (or whatever) even when switched on, but still makes the switch active (on and off).

I've had mine unplugged for a year and the sound is just fantastic, but the time's come to be able to use the switch but still have the lovely noise right through.

I've been meaning to disconnect mine. Maybe I'll try this instead.

Takes 5 mins to just disconnect the plug in the engine bay?

True - but also disconnects the switch, which I now want to work.

It should be on the right hand side of the driver footwell, under the light switch area.

Get your head down into the footwell area to look for the relay.

Zyp- where is the thing to pull out if you just want to deactivate it, like you have been running it?

Got a pic of the location in the spyder?

I am just looking at doing this. I think I prefer to be able to just unplug something so it is on all the time and be able to simply put it back again when I wish, rather than physically braking something that then needs a fix to get back to original.

The pse is pressed everytime I get in and I wish I could just default it to on.

I take it that by pulling the plug, it is constant and you don't get that annoying cut out at 30-40mph?

Cheers.

Just had another look - no relays near the fuse board.
I even took the trim panel off and still no relays (Spyder, not a 911)

Suppose this other way you can keep the valves active, rather than them not moving for ages.

Hi there,

Can someone please help me find where this relay is on a 997 Gen 2? I cannot see any relays where the fuses are to the right of the driver foot-well.

Thanks in advance.

Thanks for clarifying that. Reading this rennlist there seems to be speculation that the 997.2s may not have the speed dependent cut out.

Can anyone confirm this either way?

Exactly when is it mean to cut out. I have heard approx figures 27-47mph but I am not sure if my PSE does cut out and readying all is frustrating me. When I want PSE on I want it on! biglaugh
