Rubbish Porsche batteries

Just had to pay £180 for a new battery because the old one expired after two and a half years .
Caught up in the warranty circle of having to pay more for branded products .
My daughter has an Audi A2 with the original , now 11 years old . Even the Caterham one lasted 6 years and that sits in the garage most of the time .
The GT3 does at least get used regularly .
Moan over , off to buy a CTEK .

They are garbage and the warranty issue of a 'non approved' battery is a joke. Caught up in the warranty circle of having to pay more for branded products .

Mt gt3 battery failed after 6 months of used car ownership and after the RAC man thru Porsche assist fitted a Bosch battery I was told that was not approved so the car had to be trailered to opc to be fitted with the crappier Porsche one.

Keep both - fit the Bosch one back and put the porsche battery on continual charge. Swap over for maintenance or claim. I wasnt questioning the logic of the warranty ( i know thats a stitch up ) i just wanted to know if there was an opportunity of arguing a battery less than three years old wasn't a consumable but covered by warranty 1) Yes it's stupid

I think I will just avoid Porsche ownership. I've spent the last few weeks browsing the Porsche forums and I'm struggling to think why I would want to own one, naff batteries, engine failure, over revs, warranty that's void by exposing the car to oxygen. What a joke!1) Yes it's stupid

Just don't buy from an opc then deano, or anything with a Porsche warranty.
The only thing I visit Porsche for is parts.
But, you sound like a worrier, so vote with your feet and buy something you're more comfortable with. they do cost money to run.
Why would you want one? Well if you have to think about that, then again they probably aren't for you, but thousands of petrolheads swear by them, many after trying other things, so the cars must have something good about them. I'm not going to try and explain.

I have the same thoughts about scam warrantees Deano, so I'll be buying one out of warranty (With a Hartech pre-fail rebuild) and saving an absolute fortune.marky911 said:

I think a lot of these issues boil down to the individual opc, Bristol I have found have been nothing but excellent I would recommend them to everyone. Mine was replaced under warranty by opc Solihull so that's rubbish. Can you give me any info to take this up with my OPC , they were adamant that despite the extended warranty the battery was a consumable that wasnt warranty covered . JOKE
I initially had to pay then got reimbursed by Porsche Assist. Speak with them

Given they must replace them under warranty at least twice per car anyway I can't see how that makes sense even to the most dim-witted bean counters..
