Hi gents,

First post so hello smile

Been wanting a gt3 for ages but I saw this turbo and thought it may be better for me as a daily driver

http://www.jzmporsche.com/porsche-for-sale/911/997...

Anyone know the car ? Just wondering what this car would be like to live with daily. I must say that the up rated clutch might not be the best for everyday???

Thanks in advance

Looks great, right spec, colour, low enough mileage, nice to have the extra power, carbon interior always a plus in the ge of plastic. I would get a good warranty to prevent issues linked to those modifications an enjoy. With such power, it has to be seriously fast.

Indeed, apparently the 997 Turbo is too fast for a mere human to be able to change gear before the engine blows up...or something... biglaugh

Looks very good and definitely worth an inspection. Apart from the usual hpi check it also worth contacting the owner and DMS to get any further info. Additionally get an Indy to check it over and give you a rev range listing - with that type of power and manual transmission it may have strayed into the red.

Really like the spec thumbup

What the car would be like to live with on a daily basis? Hard to say. Generally the more mods the more temperamental the engine. Tire/wheel and suspension mods can make the car provide a bone jarring harsh/noisy ride to.

I think your best bet would be to arrange for a good test ride and then drive in something close to your daily driving experience. Spend some time in the car as a passenger so you can focus on things other than steering the car and then as a driver so you can experience 1st hand how the car is like to drive.

An uprated clutch can feel good at first, but over the long haul be a real leg killer. So be sure you drive in conditions that require a lot of starting the car from a dead stop or creeping the car along at a walking pace.

Also with those mods the engine may not like your daily usage. Plus servicing is likely going to be needed more often. There is the fuel mileage to consider. And what about MOT inspections? Will the car over time have any trouble in that area?

Looks like a lovely car. I wouldn't worry about the uprated clutch. The Sachs 890nm bite point can be a little sharp, but with the pressure assisted slave cylinder, it isn't much heavier than standard. Do expect some extra noise from the gearbox with the single mass flywheel though.

Thanks for that . Someone told me the bite pint is high . Being 6.5 won't help wink

Will see what I can get warranty wise!

The car has a sunroof so an idea to check heights, and with that type of power you will want to track it so try it with a helmet as well. My friend who is 6ft7 fits okay in a 997.2 with a sunroof but definitely not a 996 with sunroof.

Rang and was told modded from when first purchased in 2007.
Has had front end repainted because of stone chips.
Why no one buying it?

It's the mods. The great majority of buyers want a good standard car in immaculate condition.

The 640bhp mods will scare most off as it implies the car has been ragged to death by a power crazy owner.

nah these cars handle 640bhp no probs, with only 30k miles and 1 owner bet that car was doted on. Only downside is it much more difficult to insure a modded car and also sell on a modded car. I'd have it in a heart beat if I was looking for a car as those mods are worth about £15k-£20k and that car will be rapid. a-b nothing quicker

I have the Sachs 890Nm clutch and the pedal actually feels lighter than the standard item! Sure, it is a little more on/off than standard, but you'll get used to it in 10 minutes and never think about it again.
