I collect my 2009 build MY10 997.2 GT3 next week and the car is fitted with PCM and a telephone module. I have a Blackberry with Sim Access Profile (SAP) capability. When I read the Porsche information about it, it seems to suggest that the bluetooth will work through the SAP profile allowing me to keep the sim card in my phone. So that being the case, am I right in assuming that I don't need to buy the I619 code for "Mobile Phone Preparation" to activate Bluetooth? If not what is the I619 option for, is it for phones without SAP capability? It also appears that the SAP connection can do more than the Hands Free Profile (HFP) which I619 enables. Why would you want the system to switch between the SAP and HFP profiles?

This is what the user guide says:

[5] Frequently asked questions about using the PCM
with telephone module
What are the differences between the PCM with
telephone module and the preparation for mobile
phone?

The PCM with telephone module is an integrated
carphone that requires a SIM card in order to make
and receive calls. This SIM card can either be inserted
directly into the PCM or accessed on a compatible
mobile phone using the Bluetooth® SIM Access Profile.
With the introduction of the Model Year 2011 sportscars,
the telephone module allows automatic detection and
switching between the mobile phone Bluetooth® profiles
SIM Access Profile (SAP) and Handsfree Profile (HFP).
Note: on 911 Carrera models only in combination with
optional navigation module. Sportscar customers who
order the telephone module thus benefit from a system
that offers the maximum scope of functions (connection
with HFP and SAP) and convenience while retaining
complete flexibility in the choice of mobile phone.

As an additional option, the telephone module in the sportscars
also offers a wireless active handset with display
and its own keyboard, enabling calls to be made with
absolute discretion. This handset can also be operated
from the back seat. The wireless active handset and
SMS functions are not available in HFP mode (depending
on the model of your mobile phone).

Note: In Carrera models without the optional navigation
module, the automatic changeover between Bluetooth®
profiles is not supported. Please note that the Bluetooth®
connection between the PCM and the mobile phone can
be established only by means of the Handsfree Profile
(mobile phone preparation) or by the SIM Access Profile
(PCM with telephone module). In cases where a PCM
with telephone module is to be connected with a mobile
phone that supports only the Handsfree Profile (e.g.
an iPhone®, Android® device or a Windows® Phone 7), it
is possible to have the PCM converted to the version
with mobile phone preparation at your Porsche Centre.

Thanks. So what is the benefit of SAP over HFP? As far as I can tell SAP just allows you to transfer your phone book and read SMS messages, but if you get one whilst driving it appears to stay in the PCM and not in the phone? Is this it?

I'll see how I go with SAP, hopefully it will mean that I don't have to pay to enable HFP.

Thanks.
