Ignition barrel stuck - 924S

I went to start the car this morning and was confronted by the above problem, key will go in ok but won't turn.

It was a little stiff last night but taking the key out and re-insering seemed to cure things (I thought nothing of it being an old car and all). However this morning no matter what I tried I couldn't get the bloody thing to turn and thus start the car.

I tried the spare key and still no joy (I didn't want to twist it any harder through fear of snapping the key...) I have tried the spare key and found the same problem. The immobiliser was de-activated (although when activated it will still turn but fail to start).

ASny likely causes of this, only happened in the last 24 hours and is rather annoying as the car now forms a drive ornamaent.....

I am loathed to replace the barrel as I presume Porsche will want a significant sum, whilst replacing with a unit from a scrappy would lead to having to change all locks.

Any assitance/advice re. soultions/likely causes would be much appreciated, thanks
