Hi there,

Just bought a cayman s on 56 plate and the rear spoiler or the psm functions don't seem to be working off the buttons? ive tried to put the spoiler up manually whilst stationary and driving along, but it doesn't seem to be responding. Same with the PSM, does anyone have any suggestions.

Thanks,

Jason.

How is the PSM not responding? Simply isn't turning off when you push the button?

Does the spoiler work when traveling at speed (i.e. automatically)?

He could get out and walk round and look?

ETA: Or do you mean when driving at speed? You need to get a passenger to look, or get somebody to follow you, or try and drive past a large mirror.

Both the spoiler and the PSM should operate from the buttons with the ignition on. As already mentioned, the spoiler raises at 75 mph on the move but can't be seen from the driver's seat.

Do the little lights in the buttons come on when you press the buttons? Pressing the PSM button should light up a warning on the rev counter display; does that happen?

I am clueless on the technical side of things, but if not then it sounds to me as though there is a problem with those buttons on the console. Could it be a fuse?

I had this on my Boxster and it turned out to be the switch, but had to replace the whole panel (with the PSM button in it) at a cost of £300 from an OPC .....

Yes just double checked it now, its not lighting up at all, so must either be the switches or fuse somewhere ??

no, its Just a standard cayman S. The PSM button and the Rear spoiler button are next to each other, all other buttons on the dash seem to be working fine, so unusual why those both aren't.

Does the PASM switch on and off (ignition on)? You should be able to the symbol in the rev counter display (can't remember if there is a light on the switch).

I think the suggestion was to try and switch off the PSM as you should get an audible warning together with a message at the bottom of the rev counter.

tried it again tonight, nothing responding on either button (PSM or Rear Spoiler), neither does PSM show up on dash when turning ignition on or pressing the PSM button. My dad just asked a friend who has high tech diagnostic equipment, but he said Porsche have to be diagnosed by main dealer only?

Hi, where are you located in the country? Any decent porsche garage will be able to plug into the systems. Sounds like you have a panel unplugged..? Do the switches light up when the side lights are on ? Cant remember if they do or not but someone will be along to confirm if they have back light illumination.
