Morning All

I might shortly be in the market for an earlier Cayenne Turbo and I'm aware that the coolant pipe upgrade is something that needs to be done at some point. As a prospective purchaser is it possible to do a visual check without removing engine covers etc to confirm if the pipes have been done ? for example in the absence of an invoice ?

Similarly if anyone knows of a decent one on the market, give me a shout

Cheers

John

Not all the cars suffered with the issue and it is mpossible to see without removing the inlet manifold to check but I agree it's a nice comfort to know it has been done.

My cousin is selling his turbo; it's on PH - I'll find a link:

edited to add - I can't find a link as I think he must of sold it!! It was an '04 up for £14k, 20's, OE roof rails and sill steps with 52k miles......

Bought my 2005 Cayenne Turbo in March this year on 56,000 miles at a certain 'Independent Porsche Specialist'. Paid to have the aluminium coolant pipe upgrade done by them. Turns out they didn't do a great job and didn't change all the pipes so the remaining plastic one cracked (massive cloud of steam, red warning light came on immediately, pulled over and recovered by RAC) on the M40 last week (64,000 miles). Just had to have the whole thing redone (OPC Swindon) at £1,300. Porsche does fit the aluminium upgrade pipes when they do the job for the avoidance of doubt. OPC freely admitted it was a common fault.

After my experience I would get someone who knows about these cars (and you can trust) to check that the job's been done fully and professionally.

Overall though I love this car and would recommend it totally (if you can live with 17 MPG). (Mine's not for sale... :-) )

Good luck with it.

take a look on rennlist.com under the cayenne discussion there is a sticky that gives you all the info you need. You can see the bottom pipes with a mirror placed down the top part of the engine between the firewall.

If you talk to people that know what they are talking about, it's not a major issue.
Dont let it stop you buying the right car, just because they have not been done !!

I have just bought a 05 Turbo with full Powerkit and the pipes have not been done, but it was the right car with the right toys at the right money.........

Good luck on your hunt, they are epic machines smile

What was the spec and mileage of your car, perhaps you could pm as it would be useful to know what you paid as a steer for me when trying to close a car.

Was it on autotrader located in the City?

I'm looking for a 2003-2006 car, so pre-facelift.
