A little while ago I had my standard steering wheel retrimmed in alcantara. I really liked the GT3 RS wheel....so...

My original wheel was like this...

The retrimmed wheel (alcantara with yellow leather straight ahead band and arctic silver "T" piece) ....

And now, because I am keeping the car a little longer, I thought I'd try this....

Got to say I quite like the look. It's only a 20 minute job to swap over so not a trauma smile

PS I'm keeping the alcantara one!

Going from the photos I think the original wheel looks better. The silver coloured trim matched your centre console.

The black wheel is brand new, not retrimmed. I wouldn't want to recommend the company who did my alcantara wheel because I wasn't that happy with them although the wheel turned out quite well in the end.

From memory about £160 plus postal cost to send etc. Getting the T-piece painted was another £50 at a bodyshop. Actually I think the alcantara wheel would look good with the black T.

Just a bad pic. The alcantara wheel had the T-piece painted in arctic silver to match the dash and console finish.

Maybe you are, maybe you aren't? The 1st pic is my original wheel. I had it retrimmed in alcantara a few months ago, second pic. Today I decided I wanted to try all black so bought a new all black wheel. Simples smile

I see now!

Couldn't quite work out what you'd done for a minute there.

The silver one looks better, the all black (like mine) is a bit.....meh....

I actually like the all black but maybe that's because it's new? I'll probably go back to the alcantara eventually because in the flesh it looks very good and the arctic silver T works.

I like the alcantara one with the yellow leather straight ahead band, did you have it made any thicker? How did the yellow stitching hold up, has it discoloured at all?

It's a little thicker because the alcantara was placed over the existing leather trimmed wheel. I didn't want it too thick.

The stitching and alcantara wear well. Both are as new although it was only trimmed a few months ago.

I didn't think my sports wheel with paddle shift was to bad at all!
Fitted with airbag swap was around £660 I believe

I like the alcantara of the wheel MrDemon pictured above but just not that keen on the polished metal (whatever it is?). Are they plastic inserts between the spokes?

plastic but very good visual imitation of metal. It doesn't feel cold to the touch which is the key differentiator.

I prefer it and it looks better. I wish they offered a thinner rim version with the same look.

and the large steering wheel is ideal for the car. Dun be silly and ruin the steering with a smaller diameter wheel. Heesh...... porsche engineers are well paid to come up with a solution .. if you think you can do better, you should consider applying for a job there
