hi all
ive noticed that many of the 997 gen 2 gt3's that are for sale have not been specced with sport chrono, where as the older gen 1 cars usually have it.was there a reason for this and what does the option add apart from the obvious lap timer on the dash?i know that at one time it was seen as vitually essential that it was ordered on a new car but has this view changed?thanks in advance.

I have a gen2 RS and as you point out, sports chrono does nothing other than, errr times laps or whatever else you want to time, that's if you can manage to work it whilst on the move
I am not the original owner and had I been I wouldn't have specced it, it's a bit f a gimmick and not a particularly pretty one at that!!!!

On the Cayman S (gen1) the Sport Chrono sharpens up the throttle response a tad which I find makes enough of a difference that it's the first thing I switch after starting the engine. It also allows the stability/traction control to be a bit more generous.
Apparently it also changes the way the rev limiter kicks in but I have no idea what it actually changes.
