Guys, I have never owned a Porsche before and am loving my new 991 that I have had for only a few weeks.

I got a great deal on a car that was already spec'd and not spec changeable. It was brand new and unregistered - in fact not manufactured yet - when I bought it and I got such a good deal, I had to go for it.

But the spec wasn't exactly as I wanted in that it did not have the PSE. I believe having this retro-fitted by the OPC will be an option, if an expensive one. But I see loads of videos on Youtube for third party exhausts on 991's. Agency Power, iPE Innotek, TechArt etc.

I don't understand how these guys can sell these products though. Doesn't fitting a non-Porsche part invalidate the warranty? Are people buying them anyway and just thinking sod the warranty? Or is there some way you can fit these and keep your warranty?

Do people fit them and then remove them and put stock back if they need a warranty claim? I just don't get it.

I mod all 90% of my cars, so do many others.

it's a personal thing, but has can have warranty issues, but they have to prove it was that part which caused the fail.

The sticking point is the 111 check and renewal in 3 years time, where every thing has to be oem.

If you add aftermarket parts your manaufacturer's warranty will remain valid for its 2 (not 3, Mr Demon) year life (except in the event that an aftermarket addition has contributed to a (previously) warrantable failure, but the car will not be eligible for the extended warranty, and therefore will have severely restricted resale potential.

I have PSE on my 991 cab and, IMO, a coupe owner is better off without it on account of the cabin drone it introduces in the 2000-3000 rev range in which we motor for much of each journey. Some wag will be along in a moment to tell me to just drive it at 6000 revs all the time. Ho Ho Ho.

I only have PSE on when the top is off. And it sounds bloody great then. In the coupe, I think you're better off tuning the sound symposer (by stuffing a sock or other sound insulation) in the sound inlet port to achieve a better balance between genuine exhaust sounds and the intake noise generated by the symposer when Sport mode is selected. You can get really good results this way, and though not as rude as the full monty, certainly better than the 997 with PSE.

Glad you're are still enjoying it, I'm enjoying mine despite an annoying puncture in one of the rears but hey ho that's life

Agree with the advice PSE on coupe not worth it unless you want to drive around with the windows open, what is worth it is the design pack, lots of £££ but never mind looks the business !

I'm doing mine after the smeggy weather goes away.

Why not the 3rd year?

New vehicles now have a 3 year warranty not 2. Started with the 991

I thought the 3rd year warranty was optional but included in the price by default?

I've now had a go in 991 with and without PSE.

PSE totally transforms the car and is a must have as far as I'm concerned!
You can opt out of it if you want but it is there from the start in your configuration.

Not manufacturer's warranty, surely? Just an extended warranty so the fact that Porsche can't invalidate your 2yr manufacturer's warranty for fitting aftermarket bits wouldn't apply to the 3rd year.
