When I first got my 987 two years ago, I updated the Satnav to the 08.2009 maps. I know the built in Nav does not have a very good reputation, but I still prefer it to sticking something on the screen.

I can now pick up the 08.2012 maps. Has anyone already done the update and can confirm if there is much difference?

I use nav 3 times a year at most.

Don,t people know where they are going lol

For the 3 times I need it , I use my iPhone.

Nav routes are st at the best of time taking you on common routes.

I bought the 08.2012 maps. The data is still pretty out of date. In a previous thread, I found the Hindhead Tunnel isn't shown. Nor is the new Dorchester-Weymouth road. Both were opened in 2011.......

I'm sure a lot of people use sat nav a lot of the time.

It's always helpful to have a map for reference, and even when you know where you're going, it's useful to have traffic alerts and an accurate arrival time.

I believe there are some useful improvements on the latest system - perhaps 991 and 981 owners can tell us. Don't know how much it costs for an update, but if you've got PCM you want it current.
