Sure I'd find a big, moustachioed, leather trouser wearing Hun who'd want a cuddle.

Majordad - thanks for the link, very interesting.

I'd really fancied Le Mans next year, but it seems I'm probably too late for accommodation.
Always wanted to go to the 'ring so thought this'd be a good reason to go.

If nothing else, and assuming I've still got the Spyder, I need to get on a bit of a road trip with a purpose next year.

The N24 isthe greatest endurance race on earth imho. Better than LM for the pure driving and lunacy!

Are you a large, moustachioed Hun by any chance? hehe

But seriously, when do you normally book tickets, hotel, tunnel etc?

Best to book it all now, hotels may be difficult as they get booked up a year or so in advance. I have many contacts in the area if you get stuck.

I was thinking something like this - http://www.traveldestinations.co.uk/races/Nurburgr...

I know it's 45 mins away from the track, but at least I'll be able to have a morning dump in peace.

Need to stay closer. The action goes on all tru 24hrs, you do not want to miss the night trackside action at Adeneau or Brunchen. If you re far away you wont travel.

That was part of the logic behind our Le Mans Classic trip this year, Spyder did well with plenty of roof down action.

Gone to the N24 the last couple of years; once as a punter and once as media. Short version: it's superb. Incredible racing, amazing atmosphere, especially at night in the forests. It cost something like €55 for a weekend pass, and you can get very close to the track in places even without a media pass. Plenty of good places to stay, beer's cheap and you'll have a great time watching a huge variety of racing cars go at it for 24hrs straight. Can't recommend it enough.
