handbrake on 924
Discussion
The handbrake was limp, just lifted up and fell back down, the bolts that go through the handbrake were completely loose and so was the nut on the cable.
I tightened the bolts that go through the lever and tightened the nut on the cable (had a round thing opposite it? left that alone?)
Can now hold the car using the handbrake on a slight hill, but it doesnt click and hold?
anyone know how to fix the handbrake? the brakes work fine, the spring at the bottom of the lever is not connected to anything, where does it go?

Separate from any mechanism problems that you may have, the 924 type handbrake lever is very poor and self release is common when the ratchet becomes worn!
The best way to 'mend' it is to buy a later type leather trimmed lever from a series two> 944 (1986-1995 will fit). These have a double ratchet, hardly ever wear out and they look far better too.
Be careful where you buy - the eBay type breakers sometimes try to charge stupid prices for these, but Id expect to pay about a fiver from somewhere like PH Sportscars.
