Surely 5 owners in slightly less than 5 years is a little unusual even for a GT3? (But only 14k miles in that time)

I was looking at one today, semi seriously - wrong time to sell a Spyder - and was a little taken aback at the above.
The seats also looked overly shiny in places and the drivers side squab looked very creased, but the alcantara steering wheel looked ok.
Loads of swirls on the bonnet and a slight ding from a stone chip on the roof.

Anyway, as you were.

My 993 had 6 owners in five years - although one was the same person twice!

When I sold it was 7 for 7.

These Porsche owners are very faddy.

It's quite normal for a GT3, and indeed a lot of high end cars to get through a lot of owners. So many are bought, used for a little while whilst the owner ticks the box of having owned one before it's off to pastures new for a rinse and repeat.

I dealth with a car dealer of high end motors (the GT3 would be the lowest level he would typically trade) and people would buy cars over the phone.

I've had the Lambo for a couple of months, Tracey, my new bird, doesn't like the colour, what else you got in stock...

His customers would swap 2-3 times a year without even seeing the car. Box ticking, extreme spending in the extreme.

I was quite odd as I wanted a test drive!

I don't know.....having that many owners must feel like some stranger has taken a dump in your favourite toilet.

People like to try"the next new thing, get bored and move on, but i agree, when you are spending a lot of hard earned money we all want the car with the best provenance, 5 owners doesn't inspire a lot of confidence if it is still a fairly new car. I am currently searching for a gt3 and feel it is an issue. Have you seen the white 08 gt3 one of the opc's are advertising?it mentions 4 previous owners in the second line. They obviously feel that is an obstacle in the sales process they wish to get over straight away, i wonder how much interest they have had ?

The one I looked at is also at an OPC, and I think it's been there some time.
It also has a sunroof and sports seats which I'd guess would put a few people off.

It will bother some people and not others, from your question it seems to be a concern to you, it would be to me also.
Keep looking .......

Its all about condition of the car as presented . Number of owners irrelevant to the trained eye but you will always get the anally retentive scared of their own shadow saying otherwise.

Have you seen the silver 7000 miler at OPC Wilsmslow? That's a one owner car and is lovely, albeit pricey.

They know how to value a Spyder too, their's has gone up twice in the last month and is now just shy of £40k!

So they'd give me about £30k for mine if I'm lucky...

Given what they offered my pal for his Boxster against their Spyder, that may be optimistic!

If they are looking to sell at £40k you can get £32-34k if you haggle.

It's not the equivalent of opting for a lady with five previous husbands!
