Well check this out !!!!

http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&category=9860&item=2489134785&tc=photo

If it really will sell for £50k and its a real one - I bagsy first go at buying it !!!

Can anyone check the supposed "chassis number" in the ebay ad?

Surely too good to be true. At anything like that price its worth a trip to Japan to check it out.

Anyone want to come with me??

I thought, being Japan, it was going to be one of the 6 or so right hand drives made! Now, then I would be on the first plane out!

For some reason, the Japs seem to like LHD cars. Still, if it checks out OK, £50k would be a very good deal.

Something doesn't add up. Look at the silver car. Cooling around the rear bumpers. Smaller mirrors. Roll cage. Plus alloys and an exhaust system that looks suspicuisly like a certain PHers yellowbird.

Granted, the silver one does look at little irregular.

But the red GT2 does at least look authentic.

Now the importer posting it on ebay clearly does not normally handle this kind of car, but nevertheless they would have to be a fool not to do some web based research ! Would'nt they?

Then again, stranger things have happened. Bargains are snapped up in stranger circumstances....

And if I'm not mistaken, it says RUF on the bonnet badge.

I smell a rat with these 2 cars.

Correct Daz. Looks like a widebody CTR. Front and rear and wheels look correct, and the exhaust pipes are the same as on a CTR engine.

But there is a smell of fish around these two cars.

The cars look good to me....The red Gt2 looks correct, the rear spoiler has had an extension added, even the speedlines look the right size with correct anthracite colouring. A little suprised they seem to think the Gt2 has a 3.8 lump....just their little test i guess as we all know it is a fettled 3.6 lump out of the TT.

the silver car definitely appears to be "RUFfed up", but again they make no mention of any change in output.

Difficult to assess such cars from spurious ads, but you have to wonder why the GT2 is offered quite so cheaply.

If there are no objections i would like to post the ebay link on rennlist,,,our cousins across the pond are bound to get very excited!

Apart from the provenance of the cars, is no-one concerned that they want a £10,000 'deposit' by bank transfer to bid on the auction of a car they don't own ??

cheers, Maurice

Dont worry Mo ,they wanted the dosh by close of play, already passed ! Did raise a wry smile ;the red one apart form unbalanced wings [ easily changed ] and reading Carrera rs on engine cover looked quite nice

The silver 911 is a 87 model so there is a good chance it is a CTR conversion.

Front and rear bumper CTR,

SFV made a very good point that it has the CTR exhausts,

Rollcage which would have been installed by RUF lotsa $$$ or in this case yen needed for that...

A very interesting car indeed,

The GT2 looks marvellous though...

all the best

I liked the "the absolute min this car will sell for....we have no idea if it will sell for more or less..." tag line.

You'd have to be crazy to be giving these guys 10k.

Thought the silver car looked like a RUF.

As for mods, don't be surprised as the Japanese often do crazy things to cars. I saw a dark blue 993RS the other day with the biggest wing I've ever seen on the rear!

As for LHD, it used to be a big status symbol over here, particularly on Euro cars. Not sure if it still is, but you see plenty of big new Mercs with the steering wheel on the wrong side.

Now if only I could find out which auction site they were using. Not sure about a GT2, but the RUF looks great!

MMMM That silver 911 looks very tempting. Even more so with what looks like RUF modifications.

Anyone want to buy an Integra?

The silver car is a 930 with CTR lightweight widebody front and vented rear bumpers, Ruf wheels, mirrors, bonnet badge etc. All available (at some cost!) from Ruf, In fact it looks pretty much the same as my car except mine is white and without the vented rear bumper (I just like the CTR look, so please don't call me an imposter!!) if its all straight then its still a good buy in the low teens as the body and wheels alone would have cost the best part of 6 grand or whatever that is in yen...
BTW adam was that your CTR on show at the 911 and porsche world stand at brands the other week??

Just seen this thread. It is not a GT2. Forget it. Chassis number is a 993 RS and if you look closely it is a narrow body car with arch extensions and a Carrera RS badge on the back. I hope non of you won the bid.
