PASM as standard lowers the car 10mm, the -20mm lowers the car a further 10mm.
I was speaking to one of the instructors at the PEC (long before thinking about buying a 991) and he said they had just got a car in thus equipped and in his view it really sharpened the car up on track.
On the road it remains a very nice drive

Hi
Can anybody please explain what this option on the 991s actually means? The 991s already has PASM as standard, does the '-20mm' option just consist of lowered springs? If so can it be retrofitted?
Thanks
Yes you can get it retro-fitted Can anybody please explain what this option on the 991s actually means? The 991s already has PASM as standard, does the '-20mm' option just consist of lowered springs? If so can it be retrofitted?

no idea of the cost but several £££Edited by TryHarder on Sunday 16th December 09:06
Deep - I was almost tempted out of retirement on the other place, but no!!
I can see the options you are pursuing however I am struggling to see what your outcome is.
Ex-demo car prices that I have seen are not that deeply discounted, although in my experience they are reasonably cared for, usually the salesman drives a little to warm them up before letting the customer thrash it.
Given the discount you can get on a new one, I cannot see what benefit you can get other than something closer to the spec you seek if there is nothing in stock.
On a new one, accept nothing less than the £10k and if you want finance don't pay anything over 6% APR - they will quote a low flat rate that is actually 9% APR. The only advantage of Porsche finance is that it is non-doc and very easy to source.

I was just exploring all avenues to be honest. Personally I don't have an obsession with having to own a brand spanking new car. Value for money is more important to me and so if a demo or even a one year old car represents that then that would be my preferred option.
However if as you say the demo is not well discounted then there is no point. And if the one year old car is just marginally cheaper than new and given it will have one year less warranty then again there is no point.
I'll play hard ball next week with the opc and see where I get. He has already offered me high px on my car. It's £4k more than a Merc dealer offered me for it over 6 months ago.
That's one of the reasons I asking about the -20mm pasm. The car I'm looking at doesn't have it and I'm going to see whether he'll retrofit that into the deal as well!
Thanks again

Sounds like you are in a near ideal place.
For reference the ex-demo cars for sale at my local OPC were all priced above what I paid new - at a similar spec level. Even allowing for haggling the price might have been the same.
Same price, new car v. demo, easy choice.
They are very keen to sell before year end I can assure you.

As mentioned, the ride height is 10mm lower compared with standard 911 suspension. The springs are harder and shorter and the anti-roll bars on the front and rear axles are stiffer.
It has a slightly different front and rear spoiler too, but I would have thought these weren't essential.

Here's a thread with some pics of the different spoilers:

I would have thought you could just fit the mechanical bits, but I guess your OPC will know the answer.
