Cant wait for next year to get a GoPro Hero III black with external mike for sound. The Hero I does not really do any car justice on the audio.

Nice, did not even know GoPro had brought out a III version. Looking at the specs "Smaller, lighter, 2x more powerful, better in low-light, super slow-mo in HD and WiFi enabled out of the box!" that has to be a mandatory purchase for the next trip. The external mic will be good as well. I wonder if a wireless one is available, it could be cool to mount it outside, above exhaust, Etc.

And I used a HD2 with a wireless remote mounted to the outside of the car... definitively great that it is integrated in the 3. That allows you to add an additional battery pack. The HD2 you have to choose....
