That really takes some doing....I wonder what they drove before.
Mate of mine wrote his E36 M3 off first day he picked it up.....took it to his parents who live in the countryside to show it off. He spun it into a famrer's field 200 yards from his parents house He'd had an Audi S2 previuously. Lease company have him a 320i so he could learn to drive a RWD car

Does not seem that bad for a new vehicle circa 50 k. There cannot be 30 k damage? Can there? Does that really need a shell?
All sensible replies to improve my education in this area will be gratefully received. Others will be ......... Ignored.
thanks
Why has that been written off?

New (4 week) old Cayman S with just over 2000 miles.
How much damage do you think this car suffered?

Answer: The "exotic" car claims adjuster stopped adding up the estimated damage when it approached $45K. I paid $50.6K (the car was marked down from $62.6K -- they were giving away left over '08 Caymans in early '09!).
The car was totaled. I received a check and the a salvage title to the car (long story but it had to do with the other driver didn't have enough insurance -- she hits a $60K car with just $50K insurance...) and then sold the car for over $20K at a salvage car auction.
Pretty much one of these cars is toast if the damage to the body/chassis/tub is more than just a small bend/dent that doesn't upset critical hard point locations.

Wonder if it was done on a test drive, it looks like a dealer plate on it.
That front tub looks twisted badly.
It is possible it was done on a test drive. I came across a new but obviously very wrecked Boxster on a dealer's back lot in Dallas TX some years ago. The car been in a bad accident. I asked about the car and was told it occurred on a test drive, was not the Boxster driver's fault. The salesman and the customer were both unhurt -- I do not recall which one was driving at the time of the accident -- but oh my that poor Boxster. It looked totaled to me.That front tub looks twisted badly.
