New or used?

New and in stock go for a stupid level of discount and bargain from there.

Used - I would look for at least 5% if not 10% - check how long the car has been in stock.

Finally don't pay over 6% APR for Porsche Finance - they will try and tell you this is impossible - oh yeah!

For new cars the GAP and TYRE/WHEEL insurance is quite high. Suggest half what they ask for and bargain from there. You can shop around for this stuff - it will be cheaper.

Play OPCs off against each other, as long as they're not in the same company network. Depends what you're buying...

Yeah - bla bla bla. And they always say - we have other people interested... hurry!!! smile 4 weeks later - the car is still there.

Offer what you want to pay for it.

In all honesty I think the Belfast car is pretty much on the money. It's a low mileage MY10 car with all the options you would want and some nice to haves - about £20k of options. It's the cheapest in the network bar the red car with 16k on the clock. Looks like it has new discs (perhaps not all round, just the fronts - but that's all this car is really hard on) and I imagine the tyres are fresh all round too.

OPC will have taken the car in for about £65-67. If they've offered the car for £700-£1k off and a Silverstone experience then I would take the deal as these were changing hands for £80+k 4mths ago and there are two still in network above that.

Finally the Belfast car looks like a good one and it's in Carrara White...which shows off the GT3 contrast black grills and vents nicely. These cars have a way to go but will stabilise in a few months.

More important to get a low mileage car with the right spec (and this is both those things), than worry about the odd £1k. You could hold out and hope it being in Belfast puts people off (I think it's priced for that already) but I imagine that it will go early in NY for near to asking price and then you will kick yourself. If this is a keeper for you don't worry about saving another £1k.

Awesome car by the way - I loved mine in Carrara White...

Good luck!

PF

The JZM car had more options, 1yr left of OPC warranty but double mileage than one you're looking at, so for same price and 2yrs OPC warranty the Belfast car is a better deal especially given the mileage as GT3s are very mileagetongue outrice sensitive.

Per my last post I reckon it's a good buy, but always squeeze what you can before you walk...or they blink. Trouble is year end numbers will be booked unless you can transfer cash and do deal all in one day tomorrow - this may give you some leverage. Ask about tyres - if not all new get them to put a set of new tyres on and ask for the old ones. It all depends what they've got in it and what they had to do to it when they got it in. These cars can easily have £3-5k spent in them in prep eg brakes.

thanks for the advise pf, tyres on this car are corsa'swith 5mm on front 4mm on rear, they have done a 20k service to bring it back into synch, as it had not been seviced since new. I can do a deal tomorrow, so will try that one, thanks again for all the info!

No problem...HTH

The service alone will have cost £500-700.

You'll find the front lift system very useful when you put it on the ferry to bring home ;-)

Happy hunting and keep us posted!

PF

Ps - if in future you need a spare tyre if one of your Corsas gets a puncture shoot me a pm as I have 2xFromt Corsas and one o/s rear Corsa. Corsas are impossible to get hold of in the matching N rating these cars all came on.

Thanks for that. What is the best alternative for replacement, I know the tyre situation is very difficult, i understand a few people have sourced some from germany?

I have Cups on my RS and would prefer to run Pilot Super Sports but they don't do them in the right size here - but do in the US. They are not N-rated so some people won't use them (OPC Warranty) but I never had any trouble with my OPC with them on my GT3 - they were sensible in their approach with me. Cups wear out quickly (shallow tread in first place) and limit ones usage in UK in the rain and colder/greasy weather, and other than Corsas which you can't get, MPSS are what I would put on my GT3 for all season use and occasional track days, but others will have different views and not agree with me.

when you say it was serviced to bring "back in sync", how does that work? i thought once a car was overdue a service this screwed up warranty renewals etc?
