991 PDCC v non-PDCC
Discussion
Is anyone aware whether there have been any magazine reviews of the 991 without PDCC? The reason I ask is that evo talks about the 991 lacking initial turn-in leading to a lack of confidence.
Coming from an GT3 to an RS to a non-PDCC 991 I find this a little puzzling. At low speeds it is softer (but I think this is deliberate) and in normal mode at speed I find it responsive, and with the PASM in Sport mode (closer to a GT3 in normal mode in terms of firmness) I find the turn in quite sharp.
It would seem to be that PDCC cars take a fraction longer to settle before turning-in, or giving the sense of turning in.
Thoughts?

The non-PDCC car feels more like the 911s of old. The PDCC car offers less sensation on turn-in. But the PDCC car is quicker on twisty roads. You need to learn the car though and to a degree turn off your brain.Coming from an GT3 to an RS to a non-PDCC 991 I find this a little puzzling. There are plenty of PHers who'll speculate on the merits of the PDCC vs non-PDCC car without even having driven one, but even PDCC owners, like me, can't be trusted to give a definitive answer because we don't have a non-PDCC car to compare it to. Though I have driven both, sadly it has not been back to back. All I can say is that I believe comfort to definitely be enhanced, that rapid direction changes, S-bends and chicanes, can be dismissed with a flick of the sttering wheel, and that you seem to be able to get on the throttle quicker after initiating a turn. I haven't noticed any problems with turn-in or understeer, but it pays to be assertive and to turn in at higher speed to engage the hydraulic actuators (or whatever the roll bar stiffeners are called), trail braking is less effective than on the 997. Of course YMMV.
