996 Turbo/4S Front Spoiler wanted? Calliper repaint?
Discussion
Hi guys.
Where is the cheapest place to buy a front splitter for a 996 Turbo. Porsche apart quoted £235 and my main dealer will match that. Hoping to get it a little cheaper?
Also looking for my brake callipers to be repainted red. Do you just get replacement "Porsche decals" from the main dealer. Is it just a paint job or while I'm at it is it worth getting the callipers overhauled by an engineer?
Thanks for your thoughts.

I'd always been led to believe they were "about £100" - it's what I've been told before, although I can't remember where.
I need one too, although was planning to wait until Spring when the weather is a bit nicer for working on cars. Disappointed to hear the apparent price though - is that inc VAT / delivery?

Not too many months ago I replaced the front air dam on my Turbo. Cost was a bit over $300 but the part was factory and fit the slot just like well a factory part. The original part lasted nearly 100K miles and would have lasted longer but a real steep/unexpectedly so drive took the thing out. Crunch. I'll be careful as always, mindful the thing hangs quite low as always, but it is a consumable item.

Thats about as cheap as you will get a front chin spoiler. Price above is for the turbo a 4S spoiler is less than half that price but is not as deep. Probably best with the 4S if you regularly smack it.
Problem with the 4S part is it does not have the same shape. Thus this changes the aerodynamics of the car. While I doubt the car will fly off the road -- provided you keep the speed down -- the front air dam plays a big role in creating a low pressure area under the car to help air flow through the 3 radiators which of course cool the engine.
I'm amazed at how aerodynamically efficient my Turbo is when running at speed even in rather warm ambient temps.
This efficiency cuts down on the radiator fan run time which reduces wear/tear on these along with reducing the wear/tear on the alternator which has to supply electrical power to run the fans.
I'd rather spend a bit more money on the right spoiler every 100K miles vs. on addressing issues in the engine every 100K miles arising from compromised cooling arising from using the wrong/unsuitable front air dam.
