Search isn't returning anything relevant so could someone kindly recommend really good tyre fitters in London or the south east please?

I'm looking to fit Michelin Pilot Super Sports so OPC is out of the question (I don't have warranty). I have used Wheels In Motion before but they are charging over £200 for fitting with no room for negotiation... Is touch less fitting and nitrogen worth that much?

Thanks

Do they use some sort of Jedi mind trick to remove the wheels and replace the tyres??

Wheel power in Brockley. Mark who owns it is a great guy and has ( or used to have )a porsche. They take great care of the wheels and are not fussy if you get them elsewhere cheaper and just need fitting.

Will be interested in this, very rarely has a tyre fitter not scuffed the alloy.

Wheels in Motion has a machine which removes and fits tyres on alloys WITHOUT touching the alloy rim or any part of the face of the alloy .. amazing piece of kit and guaranteed no scuffing.

Event Tyres - good prices and they come to you. I've used them three times now.

Hmmm. The Giuliano is OK but not quite ' state of the art' as they like to say. And any of the 'touchless' machines can still result in scuffed rims of they aren't used properly.

+1 - their machines seem to not risk rim damage, super convenient too. Used them for almost 10 years.

Thanks guys. Event tyres is coming out at approx £990 and WIM is approx £1115. The only difference then is Nitrogen... Is it worth circa £125 more?

Hey mate - I don't think so, and anyway, you could go and get them inflated somewhere else with nitrogen for a lot less than £125!

No. There is no evidence that it makes a practical difference. Air is 78% nitrogen in any case so any benefit is because the tyres will be filled with something drier than what comes out of the typical tyre shop's compressor, which might give a tiny it more stability of tyre pressure, but not so you'd notice.

Pressures will still rise when the tyre goes hot, the rate of leakage will not be discernibly different. not worth £1 more let alone £125.

£200 JUST for fitting???? You have got to be kidding me???
I paid a local tyre place £50 for all four corners, having bought my own tyres from Camskill.
There were others offering to do it for £40 - but in the end went somewhere that does a lot of Porsche, as wanted them to handle it with a bit more care, and not KF style. It takes less than an hour, don't know how WIM can charge you £200!!!! Am I missing something!!?? Is that including a tyre!!!???
BTW, as others have said, nitrogen is a gimmick and non-issue. IF you really want it, go to your local KF, they do it for about £2 - and I am sure they can't do much damage if just inflating your tyres!

I used Merityre in Leatherhead to fit supersports on my 997 Turbo. Really good service from a Pirelli performance centre and they charge £1 per inch fitting including nitrogen fill up.

+1 I've used them for all of mine and the whole familys cars over a similar time period - perfectly safe for Porsche rims in large sizes too!

Costco in Croydon, did a great job on 4 PS2's on my GT3. They have separate specialist equipment to do the nice wheels, they really took their time and price was great 900 quid including fitting for all 4 (there was an offer on at the time). Filled with nitrogen as standard.

Plus the guys loved having nose at the GT3, made my day!!!

Event Tyres came to fit my Super Sports this morning. I need not have worried about the quality of their service as it was perfect. Ben took great care in replacing the tyres and explained everything to me as the nosey OCD guy I am smile Excellent service and highly recommended - I shall definitely be using Event Tyres in the future.

As for the Super Sports, I drove 40 miles this morning in damp conditions at 2 degrees, and although that is not enough time to get a detailed opinion, I can say that they would not break traction at 7k rpm round corners in the lower gears - the grip is incredible and I am very impressed. Ride has improved slightly and tyre noise is a little less, but that could be because the Pilot Sports they replaced had 11k miles of enthusiastic wear on them.

All good so far - thanks for the recommendation smile

Event tyres. I've now recommend 4 neighbours, they've all used them and are over the moon with the service and price.
