Hi All,
What are the main differences/benefits of the GEN 2 car over the previous version?

The most obvious difference is the new DFI engine which is proving reliable and suffers none of the M97 well documented issues.

The engine is the main one, more reliable and a few extra horses. Newer lights front and rear and newer interior (stereo and switches).

It's not been improved. It is a brand new engine designed from the block up. It does not have an open deck design or as far as I know an ims.

Oh, and I imagine they have run some water past the cylinder liners too. biggrin

So these new engined cars are 3 years down the road without the issues of the previous version, does this mean Porsche are back to making well engineered cars?

Thats a big question!

I am not qualified to answer that but the signs would seem mostly positive.

the fact they use the 3.8 dfi in the 500+bhp turboS is a positive they never used an m96/7 engine to build a turbo.also the dfi caymanS are raced in america and done 1000s of laps with no issues.only problems i have heard is with the early pdk gearboxes
