996 cabriolet child seats?

Considering an early 996 cabriolet to replace my B5 RS4 as a daily car.

Do "normal" child seats fit in the back - have one in a forward facing seat and one on a booster at present.

Would have used the search but "not working"

Booster seats fit nice and snug in the back, not 100% on forward facing baby seats as not tried, but I suspect it depends on the seat as they are all slightly different width. I guess some would. I have a recaro forward facing seat knocking around, if you want me to try it in my car (996 cab, Carrera 2 1999) let me know.

My wife had a C4GTS Cabrio courtesy car a few months ago when her Cayenne went in for a service. We used our booster seats (Maxi Cosi Rodi with removable seat backs with neck/head protectors) and they worked ok for our kids (6 and 3 years old). We used to use a Mamas and Papas forward facing seat though cant remember the model. That fitted really well in the coupe rear seats though I did remove the seat base which on the 996 is velcro'd into place.

The rear seat backs in the 996/997 (can't comment on 991) cabrios are more upright than in the coupe so there is less room for child seats to fit.

Thanks for the replies - so it sounds like a 4 year old in a booster isn't likely to be a problem (dare I mention that mumsnet have some good discussion going on narrow boosters)

For our 18 month old in a forward facing seat I guess I'll need to offer it up and see if it fits.

Or wait 6-9 months until he's on a booster.

If you want to put a child seat in the font you need a device to turn off the airbag, I have one in the classifieds which I used in my 996

The front seat goes far enough back that I don't think airbag is an issue for kids - I think......

No you need a special bar & buckle fitted under the passenger seat then it needs coding by Porsche

Maybe, but you deffinatley need it if using a rear facing seat in the front

Got a Maxi Cosi Tobi in the back of my 996 coupe for my 14month old. Fits well but mrs has to sit quite far forward in the front, guess this situation will be worse in the cab due to more upright rear seat backs? When the little ones knees reach the edge of her seat and she can bend her legs so they hang down behind the front seat, the front seat can be moved back a little.

A Maxi Cosi Tobi looks like a "Normal" seat so I guess I shouldn't have any problems with the Britax seats we already have.

What fits a coupe won't always fit a cab less room in can and the backs are near vertical

Yep that's what I used. Fitted perfect and now I use it in my merc.

sorry dragging up an old thread.

just got my 996 turbo, and have fitted seat for our 16 month old, and 3 week old......seems fine, just have to find a double buggy that fits now lol
