Need to start the car using an "emergency starter battery" (12v)

OPC says to connect it to my battery. The jump-start procedure (I know it isn't "really" a jump-start, well not from another vehicle) in my owners manual describes connecting the donor battery to the connectors in the engine bay.

Can I cause any harm to elertrical system connecting to my (half dead) battery. . . if so, WTF are OPC on about ?

You can't do any harm but I guess that connecting in the engine bay means the distance to the starter motor is reduced, so is hence more efficient.

Started from the front, no probs. Battery had gone flat after 14 days parked in a garage at temperatures no worse than 0c. Prior to that driven for 90min in daylight & it was a NEW replacement for another battery that had died.

Just enough juice to start it & I drove for 30 min at night. Subsequent to that not enough power to turn it over.

OPC checked Batt & Alternator, both OK , said "2 weeks was a little too long to leave it " FFS, so , if you go on holiday don't take your Pork to the airport, take a taxi instead. banghead

Given that a Porsche is a 2nd car (toy) for many, and therefore not in daily use, why do Porsche insist on fitting chocolate teapot batteries when Bosch make a much superior product at the same (or less) price.

I will buy another Bosch & have offered OPC my (free) replacement Batt back in return for a half hour test in the nice 991C4SPDK Demo they have (well, I thought it was a generous offer on my part rolleyes )
