964 clutch smell
Discussion
have had an RS clutch/flywheel fitted to my 964, all seems great, engine revs freely, not stalling etc, but if I even slightly mess up pulling away, I get an acrid clutch smell in the car, guess its coming through the heater system, is there some sort of breather venting into the car some how??

I have put about six thousand miles on my RS since having the clutch replaced, and get the impression that the extreme sensitivity just goes with the territory. All aircooled 911´s are sensitive to clutch use, but the lightened flywheel does make things worse. The clutch has to be engaged briskly and at low revs when pulling away from standstill. Combined with the fluctuating cold start idle, it can be challenging. Once on the move, and particularly when driving fast, the issue doesn´t arise.
Exactly as you describe it - the smell reaches the cabin within seconds! Instant punishment!

I have the same with my car which I've had for 6 years and about 8k miles, if you don't release the clutch "cleanly", you get a lovely burning clutch smell. Anyone who, drives my car does this the first time they drive it and I still do it very now and then if I don't drive it much......annually I do this smell on way to Le Mans at the dartboard crossing.....all part of the ownership experience!
