Servicing in Cornwall
Discussion
Afternoon everyone
As a new 993C4 owner, Christmas present to myself, I wondered if anyone could recommend a mechanic in Cornwall?
Many years ago I had 964 and used to use a German gentleman near Truro who looked after my car brilliantly but unfortunately he's retired and closed his business.
Many thanks
Ian

That's my issue. There must be some competent mechanics around Truro / Falmouth who could help us Porsche owners in the far South West. Often it's something fairly basic that needs sorting, as I found with my 964 and at the time Norgar Engineering were ideal, as driving 100+ miles each way is not always practical or even possible.
I have my Porsche 3.2 Carrera serviced and checked for 3 years now at Collins of Probus, Tresillian Business Park, Tresillian, Truro. Have also seen 993's there. Gary and his brother Neil are intelligent mechanics who can turn their hand to any machine. They are also very friendly and will take the time to do any work that may be above just routine servicing. I have been taking cars to them for 10 years and have always been impressed. They have prepped 3 cars of mine for competition use. They also get quite a few classics like Healeys and moderns like Audi. There tel. no is 01872- 520654. I am not connected to them just passing on info to a fellow PH member and Porsche owner. Stephen
I'm based down in Hayle in west cornwall and use Porsche Exeter for my servicing and inspections
Basically to my knowledge and i ve been a car dealer here for 27 years, there are no dealer/ factory trained mechanics who provide a servicing facility to the general public.
Chris Lee was factory trained in the late 80 & early 90s and worked for Monarch cars in the midlands occasionally does some work at weekends but works for his brother who runs a haulage business full time.
there is a dealer in Truro who claims to be a Porsche specialist but none of his staff are factory/ dealer trained.
SO the nearest independents are Crispin Manners, Oak Tree Garage. Any Moss in Honiton and Braunton Garage North Devon
Adrian Crawford does employ a mechanic but i'm not sure if its for his own use or whether he does outside work

Thanks for your help and I'll give the guys at Probus a call next week as they're close to me.
I did have my 964 serviced by the OPC in Exeter when I first bought it and they were very professional and polite but came up with a list of jobs that would cost £'000's. luckily I found Norgar Engineering who pointed out what jobs really needed doing (and did them at half the cost) and looked after my car for the next 5 years with no problems.

Please post back with how you get on. I'll be needing a service early spring, and Tresillian is a lot closer!I did have my 964 serviced by the OPC in Exeter when I first bought it and they were very professional and polite but came up with a list of jobs that would cost £'000's. luckily I found Norgar Engineering who pointed out what jobs really needed doing (and did them at half the cost) and looked after my car for the next 5 years with no problems.
