I've always wanted a 996 GT3 RS even more than later 997 offering. Just wondering how many were actually registered in the UK?

Having followed the Mr911 car for a while they seem to be occasionally available at an affordable (to me) level. Indeed, it took a long time for that car to shift so goodness knows when the examples at JZM will ever find a home?!

I was £1K away from a deal with Mr911 and I'm sure if it hadn't have been purchased a couple of days ago we'd have met somethere in the middle by now. If anyone out there is thinking of px'ing one of these fantastic cars I'd be interested in chatting to you.

Cheers.

whats wrong with the white/blue car at JZM (besides the price) ? thats my old car. k410 Manthey kit. bloody fast. i sold it at 20k miles back to Paragon 3 years ago, not sure whats it's been doing since. It's very optimistically priced i agree, must be on SOR, and doesn't have a/c, but if you can live without that i think it's a very good example. i'd buy it back if i had the space.

I'm purely thinking of cost, I wouldn't be in the market for a £60K RS. AC in that car could make a difference I suspect.

Approximately 108 were registered in the UK. I think the official number is 100 but there were some stragglers, maybe LHD.

Is it the same car that was for sale at Paragon at the start of last year?

I think price.

Also one of JZM cars has been fighting. Might be your old car!

Also consider that as many must have been written off as brought in from abroad and a good proportion have had cosmetic repairs too. They made less than 700 worldwide (in the region of half as many as conventional mk2 GT3s IIRC) and I'd be totally unsurprised if more than a hundred of those had been cubed by now.

Of all the road cars that they have built, the 996RS simply must have the highest proportion of examples that have seen a track. Which in my opinion is a very good thing indeed.

Keep on telling myself that I'm going to sell mine, I just can't bring myself to do it.
It's more than just a piece of metal to me.

Good luck in your search, It'll be worth it.

Prices have not really moved in the last 6 or 7 years, a very limited market.

If I recall correctly both cars were approx 40-50k mileage (which is low for their age, but higher than average for 6RSs). Most people have these as their 2+ car and therefore annual mileage can typically be 3-5k so these were priced keenly. It would take a 30k mile car 2-4 years or more of smiley miles before reaching the same mileage.

Figures from Porsche GB:

2004 - 106
2005 - 7

Total worldwide production according to Mr Preuninger who kindly answered my email query:

"682 GT3 RSs including all internal cars."

I'd expect their massively overpriced trackday crashed/repaired and over-revved GT3 RS to stick around for a while longer.

I can't believe you missed out on a rare £50K car for the sake of arguing over £1K. confused

Just had a quick view of your profile. Beautiful car. I'm really not sure which colour combo I prefer - it always used to be blue but now I'd be hard pressed to decide - both look fantastic.
